Your Fleet. How many do you ride each week?
For folks who have multiple good weather bikes how many do you ride on a regular basis... weekly?
Pondering the question of how many primary bikes you can ride. |
You first.

I haven't ridden my back up bike in months but it sure is nice to know I have it if I do need it.
|
I find I ride my B bike (2007 Giant TCR Advanced 1) much more than my A bike (2009 TCR SL1).
Ironically my reasoning is to use the B bike for training rides, yet sadly I don't have the nerve to race my A bike. And the A bike is da' bomb! How dumb is that?! |

Why do you ask?
Discounting commuters, I rotate between my "weekend" bikes. They each get ridden until they need a wash (and I'm fairly OCD), then it's a thorough wash and back to the end of the rotation. So it's basically one weekend bike at any one time, running until dirty, which can be a couple to maybe 5 or 6 rides. |

Totally
And I don't want to ride the A bike in the B race for obvious reasons. There is a Sunday morning C race which is even sketchier than the B race so I guess I'll save the A bike for the friday night ice cream ride. |

I commute on my fixed gear, exercise on my road bike, and have fun on my SS mtb contraption. I definitely use all three every week (when I'm not injured), sometimes every day.
|
the tandem gets ridden most every week.
the primary racing bike gets ridden most every week. the time trial bike gets ridden as much as I can stomach, more when a TT is coming up, or it fits into the training plan. the backup road bike/ travel bike, gets ridden occassionaly, for a long ride, when the primary is in need of maintainence, or when I travel. The track bike gets ridden rarely, other than off season. The MTB almost never gets ridden (I live in Fl, hence no mountains) |
I see my stable as being of two parts -- one mountain and one road. I was not trying to build such stable but after having my primary bike back in the day needing to be in the shop for a recall BB and Fork I knew I needed a backup. Problem is that my Primary and Backup's are getting to be equally nice (RXR, Dogma, Prince) -- and for some crazy reason I'm itching to add a Di2 bike to the mix - crazy due to the obvious reasons and that it will be my only Shimano - all others being Campy SR11. I make time for my mountain bikes - with each having a distinct purpose - Epic, vs Stumpjumper - vs Enduro etc.. On the Road at present the fleet is pretty much single focus and my decision to ride usually comes down to what wheels I want to ride based on where I plan to ride (climbing - Ultra 2's --- Not so much Climbing Bora's etc...). I'm contemplating the Di2 bike to be the SL3 S-works Robaix Di2 which. Rationale being that it will have a purpose for rides in excess of 60 miles.

Roubaix - couple times a week, minimum.
TriCross - once or twice a week. During the summer I use it for gravel trails. When the roads are sloppy in early spring I throw road tires on it and use it instead of my Roubaix. Secteur - lives on the trainer. Sees regular use during winter months. Fantom Cross Outlaw - occasional commute and infrequent winter snow rides. I think I'm actually at the point where I don't need/want n+1. |
We vary between the tandem and our singles. At the moment, I have two singles built up and rideable, and I ride them both. One is a titanium road bicycle built for long distances, the other is an aluminum Giant which is currently on the trainer, but which I have taken on the road.
So, I ride three each week. There are several other bicycles in various stages of being built, so that number may increase. |
One, because it's the best bike in the world!
|
All 3 bikes. Commute on rain bike and cross bike and do longer rides on the A bike. Will occasionally go on cross rides as well during the week, which increase in frequency when the summer starts to turn to fall and cross season.

You must be one of the first with the Cannondale Evo -- according to Evo marketing that is...

Depends.. ride the A bike most of the time but for bike path recovery rides or if it is wet out i'll ride the B bike.
|
Fuji - rides where I think I'll need every advantage of speed I can get.
Serotta - nice days where I'm out for more than 35-40mi. Gazelle AB-Frame - any group ride not in the above two sets. Gazelle A-Frame - vintage specific rides or easy solo rides. Schwinn Crosscut - rides with the wife or other rides needing wide tires and slow speeds. |
I only ride once a week at the most right now...so over a month I will generally ride all three bikes. I'll rotate between my two road bikes for my Saturday morning rides and use my MTB for light trail rides with a buddy and his wife.
|
I don't think a consistent pattern of bike usage emerges if you just look at my weekly choices...but I just looked at my year-to-date data and since January 1st I've ridden each of my three bikes approximate one-third of the time!
|
That brings up another problem - keeping track of mileage on each of your bikes to track wear items etc... I move my Edge 705 from bike to bike but it obviously does not know which bike it's racking up the miles on.
