Any Velocity A23 rim users? Looking for feedback
I'm leaning towards building up a wheelset with Velocity A23 rims. They're strong and like with amazing benifits according to their website.
With a wider footprint, the A23 allows for a more aerodynamic rim/tire combination when paired with a 23c tire. The tire profile mimics the characteristics of a tubular, gaining increased control and lower rolling resistance without the inconvenience of tubular glue or the dangers of irreparable roadside mechanicals.
Are there any real world users that can verify the rim's characteristics
Thanks

I built up a set on dt hubs. I'm using Hutchison Intensive tubeless 25's and I find much improved cornering for a 240 lb rider. No flats after 2500 km and the wheels are still true and well tensioned.

I don't ride them on the road so I may not be of any help to you, but I laced them to 105 hubs and use them in cyclocross. I like the wider profile when paired to my 32mm cross tires. I can run a lower pressure and they "feel" a little closer to a tubular setup without gluing. They work fine for me and I like them. They've taken all the abuse I can throw at them in the CX world but I'm pretty light at 150 lbs and so's my bike.

I have a wheelset built up with the HED C2 rim and I'm a big proponent of the wide rim now. I'm contemplating getting some hubs from bikehubstore and building up a very light wheelset with the A23's, but am having trouble finding 24 hole rims. Perhaps I'll just get two 28's and build them up that way.

I'm pretty sure Velocity will do custom drillings.
Hell, I've seen penny-farthings sporting AeroHeads.

They don't need to. They stock 20 and 24h regularly in A23's but the supply has been very short this year. Very popular rim. Any true Velocity dealer can go direct to Velocity and get the rims. The local shops and the online parts flippers only have access to what their distributors carry - which tend to b 28, 32, an 36 drillings.

'Cause they're a horrible idea. Way too much stress on the rim.

I built myself a set of A23s with bikehubstore.com hubs. I could definitely feel a difference in cornering, they are more solid feeling than my neuvations in a corner. They roll very nice also and I am running about 8psi less than before. The hubs from brandon at bikehubstore have been great too btw if anyone wants to know. They are super smooth and the quality is exceptional.
