Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

shimano 600 ultegra

I am building a road bike and have gotten a front 600 ultegra derailleur in new condition and a rear in close to new condition. The rear is missing its pulleys though. My understanding is that the rear will work with 6, 7 or 8 gear cassettes. How many teeth do the pulleys need to work with those numbers of gears? I saw a pulley online with 11 teeth that was for a ten speed, but that ought not work with my derailleur. I have a few loose ones that are shimano and may have come off a similar/identical 600, but don't want to assemble and find out they wont work. Thanks in advance!

I have a 1988 Trek 660 equipped with 7 speed Shimano 600 Ultegra with a 10 tooth rear derailleur pulley.
