Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I turn over my quest to you, brethren-- find me the right bar.

My now 13 year old ITM bar is really showing it's age and is now on beater duty. Need a replacement.

This is kind of what I'm looking for:
Width: 42-44cm
Clamp: 31.8mm
Dual cable channels
Compact
Aluminum (7000 series would be great)
Weight: 240g +/- 5g (ish)

All $55 or less?

How about this one?

I'd look into Ritchey Comp stuff. Right around that price point and a few styles to choose from.

38.1 is huuge though. I think you'd find more stem options at 31.8mm.

3T Ergonova Pro (aluminum)

I had these on my R3 and loved them. The top of the bar is ovalized, which makes it extremely comfortable in the hand. There is a channel on the underside of the bar that allows both cables to run neatly under the bar tape. I like the shallow ergo drop because it still has a nice natural curve to it. Overall, just a fantastic handlebar. They can be had new for $65 on eBay.

I actually just ordered the Team (carbon) version for my new Look 595. I ordered a 44cm, whereas the aluminum version I had on the R3 was a 42cm. 3T measures the bars center-to-center at the drops and they flare outwards a little bit. This means the hoods are 2cm shorter than the size you order. For example, a 42cm bar is actually 40cm at the hoods. I found this to be too narrow for me, so I ordered a 44cm for the Team version of the handlebar. Just something to keep in mind if you go with these bars.

I have the Team version, but the Pro is exactly the same but in aluminum.

3T ergosum pro bars would be what i would get if going with an alu bar. i like the shape, reach, and drop of the ergonovas better but they get a little heavy in the pro model. if you shop around you can find the ergosum pros for cheap.
