Shimano 7900 vs SRAM 1091R chain

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shimano 7900 vs SRAM 1091R chain

Anyone running the sram chain on a shimano drivetrain? I am not liking the new 6701 chain and I'm thinking of going for the sram when I change out my cassette.

I find the 7900 chain noisy and plan to go to sram when it wears out. I use a sram chain on 105 cassette on my rain bike and it works a treat, very smooth and quiet

KMC X10SL $40 off the bay. Run it with DuraAce cassette, SRAM Red Derailleurs and FSA crank...works greats.

I am not finding it as durable as my old KMC chain. I cleaned it the other day and already found some signs of wear and i haven't even had a 1/5 as long as I had my KMC plus shifting is not as smooth.

FWIW, the new 1091R chain is a major improvement over the previous SRAM 1091. It is lighter, much quieter, and shifts noticeably better on the SRAM Red set. Sorry, but while it is a big improvement that I would strongly recommend on SRAM Red, I can't comment on how it is on the 7900 system.

Well my drivetrain consists of all 6700 which is why I was using the 6701 chain but I do not like it which is why I was thinking of moving up to the 7900 chain or the 1091R. I think I am going to check out the KMC though.

What's the difference between the KMC X10SL and X10SL TI N? Is the latter worth the 5 buck difference?

I have been getting 4000 miles on my 7900 chains. I've never gotten much over 2000 on a kmc chain.

ill agree if you want the best chain it has to be a KMC X10SL. i use it on my set up and couldnt ask for more. if you are not concerned about weight then you could go with the X10L or even X10.
