Cycling Utah
If someone knows a better place for this question to be answered, let me know, but I was wondering if any cyclist in Salt Lake City, Utah has done the loop starting in SLC to Big Mountain Pass - East Canyon - Morgan - Weber - Legacy Highway and back to SLC? Specifically if you have to ride on I-84, or is there another route of similar duration without having to ride on the interstate? Thanks. And if anyone knows another forum or someplace where I might get some other advice, let me know.

Uber Goober
Under "Regional Discussions" up there, there's a "Mountain-Plains" category that includes Utah.
I have read elsewhere that in some of the more desolate parts of the US, riding on the interstate is allowed, as there is no alternative, but in most areas, it's prohibited.

I was in Utah just this weekend! Went out for a ride came back after 1 mile because the wind was 15-30mph with gusts of 40.

If you head straight down from Morgan into Ogden then you hit the highway, you can probably ride it, but personally I'd extend the ride and head up Trappers Loop to Pineview reservoir then down Ogden canyon into town. It's about 25 miles longer, but it's a really nice ride.
I'd recommend checking something like mapmyride.com and just find something that works for you.

Oh, and if you're wondering if it's legal/safe to ride down Weber canyon/I84, it is, it's just very not fun.

That's the map of restricted roads in Utah, I-84 is legal basically until it connects with I-15.
