Looking for a light women's saddle - or men's saddle for women?
I've been riding a Selle Italia Ldy Gel Flow for a few years now, and it's reasonably comfortable - but it's a brick. 309 grams, and fugly to boot. I just got a new light bike and it's just a travesty to put that saddle on it.
So, ladies - who's riding a nice light men's saddle.
I just tried a Ruby SL and it was OK for 30 miles, but at mile 70 I was ready to kick it to the curb, and I still had a 30 miles to go. Good shape, but not enough padding.
Anyone?
(I know there's a women's forum, I'm asking here on purpose)

The Terry Butterfly (available with titanium rails for a respectable 260g) seems to be the number 1 choice among women.

I don't know how well this would work for women, but if I didn't own an SMP saddle, I would try this one.

You might not know but I will ask anyway, do you like a cut on in the saddle or no cut out? Next question, do you like a flat saddle or one that raises up in the back? I might be able to throw out a few more suggestions. However, what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another. If possible, look for a place that will let you demo the saddle for a week.

Edit - the Specialized "assometer" says high-side of the 143 range. I rode the Ruby in the 143 and the shape was perfect, just too hard a surface.
Thanks!
I have a place that is letting me "demo" - more like buy & try & exchange - and my current "demo" is the Specialized Jett - it rises in the back and I don't like that.

If you liked the Ruby SL but wanted more padding, perhaps try the Jett?
EDIT: posted at the same time...
Does CC still do that saddle demo program where they send you like 10 saddles and you just keep the one you want? Sounds like it might be something that you could benefit from.

Actually, as odd as this may sound... you might want to consider the Phenom. Yes, it is a men's saddle. And yes, it is an MTB saddle. But you can get it in wider widths (143 or 155), it's flat like the toupe or ruby sl, and it's more padded than either of those. And it's a competitive XC saddle, so it's still on the svelte side.

If the only problem you had with the Ruby was it being too hard, you might want to think about trying it out for a longer time period. If it fits you well and puts pressure on your sit bones, you'll eventually get used to the firmness of it....

I really like Specialized womens saddles. Big cut out, super comfortable and come in three widths. I think the Jett Expert is somewhere around 225g-250 grams depending on the width.
Sorry, just realized you tried the Ruby.

Here are a few links to flat saddles with cut outs. The last link is the Adamo which looks weird but a lot of people love them. I tested one before I bought my SMP but I found out that a flat saddles doesn't work for me. I have not tried any of the other saddles but if any look appealing, maybe you can get a demo to try.
Good luck with your search. I went through five saddles before I found one that works for me.

Don't mince words
Been riding this saddle since mid '06 and loved it so much I got one for the tandem.
Happy to report regardless of the distance and intensity the saddle has performed with not problems.

My girlfriend puts a lot of miles on that saddle and is worried they won't be available when hers wears out. Her saddle color matches similar accents on the bike, I don't think its unattractive, and the bike is very light despite the extra grams of the Gel Flow.

I would have suggested the Terry Butterfly Ti, but you already rejected that.

Thanks everyone, keep the suggestions coming.
If the Jett fails (as expected)
Current short list:
SSM Aspide Glamour
Fizik Donna K:ium Wingflex Women's
Fizik Antares Versus K:ium
Selle Italia SL XC Flow
cwk132 - Yeah, I thought about keeping the Ruby. The problem is I feel bruised on my sit bones. Does that go away? (OK, I have now reached the limit of my comfort-level w/r/t discussing my butt on the internet. )
I might buy them all

I'd second the Antares VS. Sounds like it would be a good fit. Maybe check out the Fizik Vesta as well:
https://www.fizik.it/product.aspx?c=VESTA
The Flow will be less flat and more flexy like the Arione. I find that The Flow, the Arione and the Romin all fit similarly. The Jett will probably be to much padding for you.

My Toupe 130 has treated me well.
Little padding, but it's flexible to absorb vibration and bumps. When I first switched to it, it solved my numbness/tingling issues, but sit bones were a little sore after first few rides, but that was far better than worry about tingling. It got better though, your sit bones toughen up. I think this will likely be the case with most minimalist racing style saddles.

^ The Toupe is a fairly flat cutout seat, so that might be a good suggestion.
