Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's my medication

After cycling now for 10 days straight after not riding so regularly since January, it's amazing how it makes me feel. I feel much more calm and positive. I'm getting thinner. The physical and psychological benefits of riding a road bike are rather remarkable.

Racing, freds vs. road nazis, bike schwag, BF, etc.; that's all white noise. Road cycling is my medication. It has been that way for the better part of 20 years. I'm 53, I hope it stays that way for at least another 20 years.

Your local pharmacy does not approve.

On the other hand, your bike shop probably does.

If the ratio of individual posts remains the same, you will be to blame.

Cycling is good, but there's still something to be said for Oxy and Vicodin.

and when I have a bad cough I kind of enjoy the codine cough syrup, it puts me in a nice place where nothing really bothers me.
Except for Glenn Beck.

Cycling is cheap medication, even if you're not on the generic version.

My HMO won't approve the real stuff anymore. It's all generic, including cycling.
That's why I ride a Giant instead of a Cervelo.

Haha, I wish. I have almost $5000 in bicycles hanging on my wall, and another $1000 in various off-bike gear.

And when the Pcultists all awake from their slumber in the morning, this thread is going to take off like a SAM.
Especially seeing it's a friday, the most unproductive day in American industry.

You're not riding generic until your frame is decorated with "Windsor" stickers.

If i rode every day i would just eat more, drink more beer/wine, and carbo up every night. I would even need more miles as my Meds. Maybe even find my "Zen moment" in the process.

You had 8 of the first 17 replies. At what point does one become a Pcultist?

I'm pushing for the over.
But alas I'm going to bed now.
I'm pulling for Asia and then Europe to cover this thread for the next 10 hours.

The comparison is Giant is to bicycling as Pfizer is to pharmaceuticals.
