You'll miss me when I'm gone

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm glad that Pcad should be discharged shortly, if for no other reason than that it will give him something to do besides posting here. I mean, he's getting almost as pathetic as I am on this site.

Let's pretend this is page one (I totally missed the start of this breaking news thread).

And then, for those who have made claims on his bikes and bike gear, keep in mind I know precisely where he lives. Stalkers keepers.

In all earnest Pcad, I'm sorry for your trouble. Get well soon. In the past week I've met on a ride 2 guys 60+ who live to ride and ride to live. Their fitness and hammerage levels were impressive. Why just today I schooled three youngsters on a local ride that included one of the regions more challenging climbs. They tried to charge up at breakneck speed, wilted at the mid-point, allowing the old guy here to reach the crest first with a 500 meter long sprint and several bike lengths ahead. Then I crushed them on the 4 mile descent.

You're not finished. Get back in the saddle... as soon as you're able.

For 6 weeks after landing here in Australia in June 2009, I wondered what in the world was wrong with me. I blamed my incredibly busy previous couple months, finishing my degree and packing everything up to go into storage. I blamed the 1000 km I rode in May, maybe it was too much for me. I blamed jet lag ... but 6 weeks of jet lag? And all the while I was getting more and more tired until finally, one day I walked out to meet Rowan after work, and could hardly make it. I couldn't breathe, I felt like my leg had turned to stone and I was dragging it along.

But even so I thought maybe I'd been bitten by a spider. I didn't think DVT.

Well, from what I've read and been told by others on Warfarin ...

Drs will tell you there aren't many side effects and that only a small percentage of the population experiences them. But just about everyone I've encountered who has been on Warfarin has experienced side effects ranging from ... exhaustion, fatigue, lack of energy ... to feeling the cold much more ... to hair loss.

You might be fine ... or you might not. You'll know in a few weeks.

The nurses here indicate their real world experience is that 65-75% of the patients tolerate it fine, but that's still a large % who get fatigued by it. So far I don't feel so bad, we'll have to see how it feels when I'm out there in my normal routine.

I'm the anti-hypochondriac. I tend to want to ignore or deny conditions because I hate going to the doctor so much. That can kill you. It could have this time.

That's stupid because had I gone to the doctor a few weeks ago I might have avoided this whole hospital cluster fark. The best reason to go to the doctor responsibly is so you don't wind up LIVING at the doctor's and the hospital with more complicated conditions. That's what convinced me to finally go for a colonoscopy. A 52 year old acquaintance who described his colon cancer treatment/odyssey. I started comparing that to a simple colonoscopy and suddenly the latter (which I had been dreading) didn't seem so bad.
