You Know You've Got Bike on the Brain When...

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You Know You've Got Bike on the Brain When...

You over hear a guy in the office talking to someone about his Denali needing repair (all the while nodding your head) and 3 minutes into it you realize he isn't talking about a bike.

When walking behind someone on a sidewalk as they lead the way is drafting.

When you see a parking spot number 105 and you think that's a good group.

When you wreck and the first thing you do is check the bike
and don't check yourself until you're sure the bike is alright.

When you look at cycling routes around a potential new location to move to.

When you consider your next vehicle purchase by it's bike carrying potential.

When you seriously wonder if a bike purchase can be paid for by your health insurance and
actually spend time trying to find just the right wording to convince your insurance rep.

You instinctually race up to a vehicle on the highway to see what bike(s) is(are) on it's rack.

The first thing you think of when some extra cash comes into your possession is more bike stuff.

Your vehicle needs brakes and you struggle with spending $100. for the job,
but have no qualms about spending twice that on your bike's brakes.

You don't let your significant other wash your cycling gear.

When an opening in traffic equals an opportunity for you to launch an "attack".

When you clean your bike at work.

When you ride home (10 miles) from work on your lunch hour to get another bike.

When you are about to go to bed late at 2 AM but then put off going to bed to try tighten up your front hub because you noticed it has around 0.5 mm of side-to-side play, and you're not even riding the next day.

When you habitually size strangers up for their riding potential. "...man, that guy would be a good climber".

Man, these three hit home. I retire from the Marines next year and am considering moving to Ft. Worth...but damn is it going to be hard leaving San Diego only because of the great riding. I also plan to get a new car as a retirement gift to myself. Was thinking a nice Mustang, but not sure my bike rack woud fit over the spoiler. And anytime I get some extra cash I am thinking about a new jersey, or a new stem, new brakes, new tape...its pitiful.

When you drive past a cyclist and think (or yell) "You're seat's to high/low"

When driving, you lunge your body forward at town line signs. .... used to do that with my wife a long time ago.

When you walk down the hall at work and glance up and to the left before turning into a conference room, expecting to check "traffic" in your mirror.

I do this frequently on Monday's after a weekend of long rides.
