Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

First Expensive Bike Purchase.

I'm new to cycling and have been riding an old 75' motobecane super mirage. Once I get enough money, I'm looking to upgrade to a better bike. I found a Cannondale Six Carbon 6 with 105 components and carbon frame and fork for 1000 bucks. I'm looking for a bike to do a couple of races in, training, and some tours here and there. What do people think of the six for my situation?

Is the Cannondale your only choice? Have you been to your LBS at all?

If that SS6 105 is brand new, I don't see why not.

I'm guessing its not brand new at that price.

Just make sure it hasn't tumbled and cracked anywhere.
