For the last 10 years I've ran an 8k race that benefits a local nonprofit youth group. For 8 of those years I was a mentor for the group. This year, I had the opportunity to ride leading the fun run and sweeping the main course. It was a beautiful day with great weather and a wonderful place to ride. Two of the other riders rode modern bikes with discs and electronic shifting and one rode a standup elliptical bike. I opted for my '84 Raleigh to ride through the Osage hills. I had a blast.

It is fascinating how many pictures I have of:

Horseshoe Lake, Illinois

Mississippi River, St. Louis, Missouri

Illinois River, Pere Marquette Park, Illinois
- My bike near water, where the water isn't actually shown
- Water I rode to on my bike, where the bike isn't shown

The pair of Trek 7100s that started my renewed bike obsession a few years ago.
Wife and I ride the Shining Sea Bike Path in Falmouth, MA often when we're visiting her aunt. Taken on the bike path overlooking Little Harbor, just outside of Woods Hole.

Specialized Hard Rock on Woodneck Beach, Falmouth, MA.
It's about a four mile ride from aunt's house, about two and a half miles on the bike path, followed by one and a half miles on narrow and winding roads. Almost got clipped by a landscaping trailer pulling back into the lane last time I rode there. We had backpack-style beach chairs on our backs for the ride- a little awkward.
I've since modified (cut the moldy canvas top off) an old Thule kid carrier (free on CL) to carry up to four beach chairs, umbrella, and small cooler. Much better.
