I've enjoyed this immensely. I've been to many of these beautiful places.
OK. I've drummed up a few of my own. Mostly of the River Mountain Trail at Lake Mead National Recreation Area near Las Vegas.

These long horn sheep are on the trail. The bike is coming up from down hill. That is the main basin of Lake Mead in the background. Here, the trail is close to HWY 93, the only time it is close to road noise.

I rode my new commuter this day. It was weighed down with lunch, bags and 3 cameras at 40 lbs. My access route to the River Mountain Trail and the route itself was 40 miles. The slow thing did really great actually.

OK. No water, but immediately to the left is the next picture and there is plenty water.

Yep, plenty water. This bike ride is incredible. I just can't get enough.

Shot from a part of the trail that gets close to Lake Shore Drive. You can ride for 35 miles on the trail then combine the route with 70 miles of Lake Shore Road and Northshore roads. Neither are clouded and both are very peaceful and beautiful.....and fast if you so desire. The trail has no motorized traffic for the duration. Spectacular riding.

Out in the middle of nowhere.
OK, the next one is from a ferry crossing at Mobile Bay on the gulf coast of Alabama about a thousand years ago.

Great pic of the ferry crossing. It's still in operation now but the boat's been upgraded since. There's a ride that includes the ferry crossing called the LAMB ride. Short for Loop around Mobile Bay. They start in Fairhope, ride to the ferry and take it across the bay and ride back around to Fairhope again. I might try it next year.

I haven't been to Mobile in 20 years. This was a great trip but I ate too much seafood to ride very far.

Last Friday, Rincon Parkway Campground just west of Ventura, at the tail end of a rather grueling 85-mile ride from Lompoc.

I think I'm ready for a really long ride. Probably as soon as it cools down a bit.

Oh, and this one is from three years ago. No water is visible, but it's about 50 feet from the Gulf.

Very cool shot.
I think it would be really cool if you could step back about 30 feet then zoom in on the bike. That would draw in the city. But I imagine you'd be wet if you stepped back 30 feet? LOL.

The Clearwater, FL area. This has to be one of the top five cycling-friendly cities in the US. Bike lanes everywhere... most of the drivers are aware... ~40 mile long trail that spans multiple counties... trolley service that covers even more... lots of scenery...

OK. I've been through there. Beautiful country. I just can't stand seeing someplace interesting and not knowing where it is. "I've been everywhere man!"
