Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

1949 Raleigh Clubman Along the Mighty Mississippi

My "Patina Preservation" project bike is finished now, and I absolutely love it. I've been riding it, exclusively, for almost two weeks.

Here it is, close to home, on the Mississippi River across from downtown Saint Paul, MN:

I've ridden it down to Hastings twice, and here's a shot of that:

I never imagined that a 70 year-old Reynolds 531 frame would ride this well. It gives me a new appreciation for English Analog Engineering. It rides like the Spitfire of Bicycles!

The view away from Golden Gate bridge at Ft. Baker. On a weekday you miss many of the 'Blazing Saddles' riders. They are more dangerous than great white sharks and ebola put together.
