ps- you should try riding with a saddle, or at least lube the seatpost...
sheldon brown has some great tips to remove them when theyre stuck.

Must be an old photo because most of the Chinese have traded in their bikes for cars. In 1995 I spent a few week in China and there were 15 million bicycles in Shanghai.
Also, the air in Shanghai is nasty as is the water in the Yangtze River.
