Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Best fitting system to use

I have been fit 3 times since I started riding 10 weeks ago. The first 2 were from the right hand side. the 3rd was from the left hand side.

heres the problem. I have had left anterior knee pain on and below the knee cap for 9 weeks. rode like that some days couldnt hardly push anything below a 50-28. finally On my third fit I had him do My left side first since Im left handed and all. He lowered the sadlle a bit and added angled shims to my shoes. 2 days later no pain what so ever in my left knee. ( i rode with pain for 9weeks) and suddenly all gone. Then 2 days later the crazy pain i had in my left knee was now located exactly the same in my right knee. its so horrible i can hardly wal kor pedal.

What Im taking from this is this

1/2 fittings left knee hurts like hell right knee awesome.

3rd fitting to adjust left side brings saddle down a bit.

2 days later left knee is like new. strong, pain free.

2 more days later right knee is now unbearable.

So apparently my left leg is shorter than my right knee which meant the reason for left knee pain was it was to straight while right one was perfect position.
then when the seat got lowered the left knee was put into proper position and right leg now became to low of angle. to much bend. Im just guessing. but if anyone has a better explanation let me know cause I can ride 3 times a day and want to, but this knee pain and 3 fittings later is enough to make me give it up. I want to race and race often but i cant if i cant even clip into my pedals without pain.

left leg shorter than right equals = improper breeding in family. lol

seriously though does anyone have any recommendations. I'm thinkibng about getting retul fitting. will it help fix this and locate the problem. someone else was trying to get me to do a wobble something fitting. dont understand the difference. can anyone point me in the right direction. should I post this in the road racing forum also.

Do you have float in your pedals?

Back in the days when clipless pedals had no float, knee pain as you describe was quite common for a lot of folks. Even if you do have some, you may benefit from even more.
