Woo finally hit 1,000 watts!

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Woo finally hit 1,000 watts!

After 2 years of serious cycling I finally did it: 1003 watts for 5 seconds today! Ignore that the shortest interval I do is 20 minutes and the only event I train for is a 40k TT but still, I finally did it!

But why no shorter intervals?

I do Olympic triathlons, so lots of long intervals and 40k tts. Speed was just over 30, but it was uphill, don't know what it would equate to on the flats.

We don't need proof until we get to the big numbers.

True. My power numbers look pretty good, until you consider what I weigh.

Weight is a factor indeed.
If the OP is a small guy that 1000 is great.
If he's a big guy that 1000 is a good start
5 seconds ... mmm ... pitty I don't have any power meter devices that go over 400

My teammate was thrilled that she broke 1,000w a few weeks ago. We were all very impressed. She weighs 125 lbs. And is a girl.

I'm 56kg so about 18 w/kg. I have absolutely no idea how that relates to anyone else though, I was just excited to see a 4 digit number pop up.

Congrats! You can power 16 light bulbs for 5 seconds.

(I like to think of energy in terms of light bulbs).
