If you're really concerned about sidewall gashes like this, you could also carry a Park TB-2 in your seatbag along with your tube and tire lever. It actually works a little better than cash.

Get yourself a Tyvek envelope and you can make all the emergency tire boots you'll ever need. Tyvek is much stronger than a paper bill and weighs nothing.
