late 90s fuji seat post sizes

Ive got a late 90s aluminum fuji team im trying to build up and when i measure the ID of the seatpost tube it comes up at 28mm. Should i be looking for a 28mm seat post for a bike of this era or did they make a 27.8 or somthing weird? Maybe the original was shimed?
