The ultimate BF 41 answers thread

Road Cycling It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle. -- Ernest Hemingway

How about being shuttled down an uphill run?

Sounds stupid but I saw a lot of people at the EC doing this. I must admit I accepted a ride down the hill on day 2.

I did that in Bhutan, actually. Motherf**ker of a climb - 10% average for around 10km and very narrow, winding bad roads. I did the climb and then hopped onto the support car and came back down. No way I was putting my life in the hands of the crappy cantis on my Ritchey.

On the way down, I was reflecting how facked up things have gotten, now that I have gone from being an MTBer to Road Nazi: choosing to do a long climb and ride down.

Err.. I was also equivocating - ah, nevermind. Tough crowd here today.

I think the general thrust of that article was that if it works for you, it works for you - dont worry about what someone else is doing. Cant really disagree with that. Is there anything specific you disagree with?
