bar end shifter indexing issue

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

bar end shifter indexing issue

not getting any response in mechanics so i'll try here..

Switched to a different set of bars. I removed the shifters etc put on new bars.. replaced shifters. now my front shifter is mostly back to normal after some fiddling BUT:

the rear shifter only indexes in the smallest 2 and biggest 2 cogs. does friction in the middle.

I can flip the dial to friction and have them all be friction but when i put it back to SIS the middle doesn't index.

ideas?

oh yea.. rode 30mi on it yesterday prior to the change and everything worked with no issues.

Sounds like the gear inside the shifter got turned on the switchover - check its position.

When you changed bars you changed the cable length slightly. (For example if you didn't get the cable housing seated back the same way it would change the cable run.)

Assuming there wasn't some other problem before you changed bars, you just need to readjust the RD. Playing with the barrel adjustor will likely take care of it.
