new bottom bracket for FSA crank - can i use ultegra?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

new bottom bracket for FSA crank - can i use ultegra?

i have a specialized roubaix that came with a FSA Gossamer MegaExo, 2-piece crankset. it's a triple.

i need a new bottom bracket.

must i use the same FSA BB-6000 bottom bracket that was supplied with the crankset?

or, can i use a shimano ultegra bottom bracket with that FSA crankset?

how do i determine if my bottom bracket is english or italian threaded?

it seems like new BB-6000 botom brackets come in two colors - silver is italian, and bronze is english. mine looks silver..., but it's a few years old....

If it has external bearings yes same BB will work. Should be a 68 English thread. Better idea yet is to dump the whole crank Gossomers are terrible, upgrade to an ultegra 6600 or even a 105, your shifting will be much better and can do this for less than 150 including a new BB.

Not all external bb's are the same. Try using a Sram GXP bb with a Shimano Hollowtech II crankset, or Campy crankset for that matter.

You can use an Ultegra BB with the FSA Gossamer. I've done it. English threading on a Specialized Roubaix.
