Stolen Look KX Light means 'new' Cannondale 6/13.

Late last summer, on a slow Saturday home with the wife and toddler, I had my back garage door open following a morning of chores and housework. Leaving it open for long periods of time was a regular thing with us, as this garage is on the back of the house. There's a common alley back there, but it's not a thru street, so pretty private really.

We stopped for lunch and to put the baby down for a while. I went to the garage to get something and noticed my mountain bike off its rack and in a weird place. Then I see that my road bike was gone, and then it immediately sunk in that the bike was stolen and I'd never see it again. Who knows who got it. A neighbor? A pro roving van looking for easy prey? Maybe. This is New York city we're taking about.

So, say goodbye to my Look KX Light.

It was a great bike, but I always thought it was a tiny bit big and kind of heavy relative to the rest of the competition in its age and class. But it was perfect for my needs and I wasn't really thinking too hard about upgrading or changing anything. A stolen bike forces your hand.

Allright, great! Lets get to work on sourcing and building up a great race worthy road bike for under $2K.

I had a fair amount of spare parts to work with and really only needed a frame and a group set. Got a great off season price online for SRAM Force full group. In the fall I went to work on Ebay to find a cheap but great road frame. I was open to any material. I just wanted 'best in class' for its age. With Ebay, you have to be patient and willing to lose some auctions, but eventually you get one. I got a Cannondale 6/13 in what I thought was a better size fit than the Look. (I was right about this.) I had a mechanic put it all together and I'm a very happy customer:)

I've been getting in a lot of miles and still dialing in the fit, but I can definately say that I freakin' love this bike! The Look was very nice but this thing is just flat out great. Lighter, tighter, more aggressive feel, but more forgiving and comfortable than the Look. I love the SRAM componentry. I'll be looking to upgrade the wheelset next year and for cosmetic reasons find a black carbon seat post to swap out for the silver alloy thomson. Otherwise, I'm done and utterly satisfied with this bike.

I want one of those frames...I love my red Six13, but those bare frames are sexy

I've always wanted to ask this question. Maybe it's stupid, but what is the origin of "Six13" and "SuperSix" names?

Great looking bike, BTW. Enjoy.

Yep. Been locking it to the rack with a heavyduty chain lock. And leaving the door open for much shorter times since then.

Not sure about the SuperSix, but Six13 comes from the period table for Carbon (Six) and Aluminum (13)
