Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Happy TDF

it's that time of year...when everybody is on the road doing their best to look pro and feeling like the rest of the world gets it but they really don't. The time of year when you can speak to "The average Joe" about a sport you partake in and feel good about the fact that you know the names of participants and have knowledge of the different stages, thus for once being the sports guru in a room full of football jocks. (I am still more of a football jock, but I definitely feel better knowing more about the tour than my other football jock friends) enjoy it while it lasts!

seriously...I went to UGA for 2 years so its a big deal around these parts, especially since i live 30 minutes from Auburn 2 hrs from Tuscaloosa, etc. SEC is a big deal...but for now...we throw around odd terminology at the bar while comparing parts you have or wish you had on your bike.

Ditto. Can't wait to see if my school lives up to the preseason hype! ASU! ASU! ASU!

And if the lockout doesn't occur. Go Ravens! Still want to make up for last season's FF middle-of-the-pack result.

I am completing my preparation for this year's Tour by riding 75+ miles today. I will then be in top form to collapse on my king sized Pcad bed and watch the Tdf on the DVR.

One benefit of being in the southern hemisphere is it's night here when Tour stages run. 10pm live on TV.

It's Saturday night, going down to the bottle-o to get some beers and snacks then home to lie on the couch.

Farby.. you're just not doing it right.. I was sitting at the table and was like "The race starts tomorrow. I'm so excited". My oldest 5 now, looks at me and says "That's the long bike race right? That's the one we like"

give em time. Yo gabba gabba will just be a memory. A really really bad memory.. just watch "A party in my tummy" and you'll understand.

YEAH!!! LE TOUR, LE TOUR.

Wow. I think the Tour needs a giant cow catcher to clear the roads of Duma$$es. Good grief.
