Dropped wallet returned by fellow cyclist....

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Dropped wallet returned by fellow cyclist....

I can't believe my luck.
I have a small under-seat bag that holds my stuff, wallet included while i ride. I have a plastic clip that goes between the 2 zippers to help ensure that it stays closed, but apparently i forgot to use it yesterday.Who knows how far into my ride the bag opened up and dumped my gear out on the roadway.
Fortunately, I was riding "laps" along an area very close to my home that is frequented by cyclists and apparently one of them found it.
They brought it to my house anonymously, contents included before I had even noticed the open bag.
Ultimately, I am only out a spare tube, 2 plastic tire levers, and maybe an old patch kit (tool kit stayed in the pocket of the bag).

Things could have been MUCH worse, as I am going on vacation Tuesday!

My thanks go out to the fellow cyclist out there that went out of their way to do the right thing, even though nobody was looking.

Dan

How do you know it was a fellow cyclist? It could have been someone out walking their dog, or maybe you left it on your front porch.

True enough, it's not certain that it was returned by a fellow cyclist, but the area was filled with locals riding the loop; into the wind going west, with the wind going east. Very few pedestrians along this area yesterday and traffic is fast enough that someone in a car probably never would have seen it.

Therefore i feel confident with my initial belief.

Uhhh, no. I didn't leave my wallet on my front porch. I certainly didn't leave it hanging in my mailbox with my ID placed on the inside flap.
I also didn't black out and forget tossing a new tube, 2 tire levers and an old patch kit into the trash while leaving my seat bag opened.

I left out the fact that while returning to my house, I saw a tire lever in the street. I thought, "How strange for someone to leave a tire lever just like mine there by the fire station, it must be broken".

I guess it was one of mine.

What kind of under seat pack do you have? Mine has an upside-down U-shaped zipper, and the zipper ends up on the bottom left side of my bike when closed. Unless I leave it open, there's no way for it to open up on a ride, so I don't need clips to keep it closed. It's a Topeak Aero Wedge Pack.

I have one of the Topeak Aero wedges too and I wouldn't use anything else.

Did you have any drugs, alcohol or medication within 24 hours of the alleged incident?
