Is something wrong with my cleats?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is something wrong with my cleats?

I got some speedplay zero pedals a couple weeks ago, and they are ridiculously hard to clip in.

I weigh 159 lbs, and I can basically stand on them and sometimes they still don't clip in. I have to twist and do weird motions (which likely entertains nearby spectators) to get them to clip in.

They are little better after a few weeks of riding, but still too hard to get in.

LBS put the cleats on my shoes.

1. Has anyone else had this issue?
2. Do I just need to break them in more?
3. Likelihood of my cleats being installed improperly?

Either you tightened them too much or they need to be broken in

When I first got mine, I spent like 10 minutes of each ride trying to clip in. I ended up scratching the CF crank arms a good bit. I put some lube on them, and after a bit more practice, it's getting much easier.

Mine were like this at first, but they broke in just fine within maybe 2 weeks (and now they are an absolute dream to ride with!). That was 2 weeks of daily riding though, I'm not sure how often you are using yours...if it's been such a long time with no improvement, you should take them back to your LBS.
