Phoenix, Arizona: Fitting Recommendations?

I come from a mountain biking, running, and hiking background.

I suffered many injuries in the last 5 years: Double knee surgery in 2010 (meniscus & microfracture), Bilateral inguinal hernia surgery in 2009, 2007 ankle sprain required 6 week cast.

I no longer feel comfortable doing many of the outdoor activities I once did, and I am now looking towards road biking as my new staple for exercising.

I was never fitted for my mountain bike, but I did feel comfortable on my 2004 ellsworth truth bike.

However, I think this time around I need to be fitted professionally, to address my injuries.

Someone mentioned looking up SICI certified trainers in my area, but the only one I found works at the bicycle ranch bike shop in Scottsdale. It looks like they do a good job, and have all the latest and greatest fitting equipment, but I feel conflicted that this SICI certified person works for a bike shop. They have limited product, and I dont want to be pressured to buy one of their bikes.

Should I not worry about that? Is there any independents in the area that I could use?

Thanks for taking the time to read, first time poster, so go easy on me! :thumb:

I had a Retul fitting done not too long after I got my road bike. Other than the bike itself, it was by far the best money I have spent on cycling. I had it done by a certified fitter at a shop where I did not purchase the bike from.

About 15 years ago, I fell from the top of a 10' ladder landing flat on my back and messing it up pretty bad to the point that I could no longer continue in martial arts. Outside of some bad posturing that I tend to do every once in a while while riding, I have not had any problems with pain on any ride, short or long distance since the fitting.

Here are the bike shops that offer the Retul fit in Arizona. The one you mentioned is listed.

Bicycle Vibe is a SICI fitter:

I got fitted there in May and was pleased with the results.

I had a terrible fit at Bicycle Ranch. Do some searching and you will see a lot of other people say the same.
