Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New or Used?

Hi all,

I'm a student in need of an inexpensive yet fairly well-built bike. I wouldn't mind buying an older used bike. I was looking on craigslist and saw several Raleigh Grand Prix for around 70-80 dollars. I could have it refurbished at a local bike store. Would this be worth doing? Any advice is appreciated.

If you don't know anything about bikes, take a friend who does and have them look it over for you. If the bike fits and passes muster get it. The bike shouldn't need more than a tune up. Once you get more into the sport and have more money in hand, you can always upgrade.
