i use a cateye mity8 and dailyburn.com to record distance, avg speed, max speed, miles and time. It calculates the calories burned.

It's the best.

Currently, I use Excel. My wife just ordered a Garmin 405CX with a cadence sensor from Amazon. Should be here this week. I'll let you guys know if I will continue using Excel after the Garmin comes in.

This screen shot shows totals by ride and totals by month and year. Date, miles, elevation gain, average speed, ride time and stopped time.

A zoomable map with the route color coded by speed or by elevation, or heart rate.

Zoomable graphs of elevation (green), speed (blue) Or show heart rate, elevation feet/hour, cadence, etc.

Thank you for posting this. Looks very promising.

I use something totally different: Garmin edge 500 and garmin connect.

I use a Garmin Edge 500 (wonderful item) and SportTracks 3.0 http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/sporttracks/

TMonk 08-12-11 09:06 AM

time and heart rate.

i no longer ride with a cycle computer as speed and distance are relatively meaningless metrics to me.

I use map my ride.com, I used to use Livestrong.com, but while they have great calorie-counting tools, the route mapping was way behind mapmyride.

I just purchased a Droid X2, and have been trying to use that, but I think I'm kind of on the edge of where the GPS can pick me up - it will sometimes have my route jump half a mile to the west or east for no apparent reason. The first time I took it out, it said that I had done 24 miles when my cyclocomputer showed 11.4.

Garmin 500 and either Garmin Connect, MapMyRide, Ride With GPS, or Strava.

A "fun" little climb from last night's ride:

I don't need logs and/or computers to confirm the knowledge that I suck at this cycling bit! :P

OK, where is this? We live in the same area, so I'm curious.
