You would think they would pose like the organized TdF photo shoots. Props to the Wolfpack Hustle on winning the challenge.

From another news article:
JetBlue called for a re-match.
"The cyclists rolled all over us this time," said Sebastian White, spokesman for the airline. "Out of fairness, we'd like to propose a best of three. How about LAX (in Los Angeles) to JFK (in New York) next time?"

"The cyclists rolled all over us this time," said Sebastian White, spokesman for the airline. "Out of fairness, we'd like to propose a best of three. How about LAX (in Los Angeles) to JFK (in New York) next time?"
Writer of the Slate article said: "In the face of this fanciful idea (a traffic-busting flight!) it became possible to demonstrate that cycling, often taken as a non-serious or marginal or even annoying (to some drivers) form of transportation in the U.S., could seem eminently reasonable: Not only the cheapest form of transportation, not merely the one with the smallest carbon footprint, not only the one most beneficial to the health of its user, but the fastest."
Cheapest? Those guys on the Wolfpack Hustle A team were riding carbon wonderbikes. We all know it would have only been possible to average nearly 25 mph on such pricey bikes, right?
Actually, one of them was on a vintage steel.

But it is a big win for bicycling in general (and public transit), as Tom Vanderbilt points out in the Slate article. Note that this is the same Tom Vanderbilt who wrote the well regarded book "Traffic" about America's car culture.

I don't think it was very good publicity for JetBlue, publicizing that their 20 mile flight would take 3 hours in real life.
But it is a big win for bicycling in general (and public transit), as Tom Vanderbilt points out in the Slate article. Note that this is the same Tom Vanderbilt who wrote the well regarded book "Traffic" about America's car culture.

I love riding my bike. I also love driving my car.
What I really love about this story is it's cool that it drew so much attention, and it had a happy ending. Usually bike stories aren't so positive.

2 of the guys race masters 35+(one of them is a 3 time state champ), another guy is a cat 3, maybe a 2 now. The other 2 guys, not sure, but I'm sure they are pretty fast, wolfpack is a fast group of guys.

Seriously? Even riding carbon wonderbikes, Zipp wheels, etc, you still think it is cheaper to own and operate a motor vehicle (even a cheap one) or use airplanes for frequent travel? Am I just missing sarcasm here?

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was announcing at 10 am Sunday that the road work is nearly completed and portions of the roads should open up shortly, way before the deadline.
But in that announcement, he said that there were some police arrests as some "cyclists" were trying to ride on the freeway. I don't know who they were, but this is not good for the cycling community.
