Yep, it happenned. His exact words were "No disrespect, but your a ***." In a way, I felt honored to pay the dues for being a roadie. Whatever, just another idiot I had to face on my daily ride ... at least he didn't cut me off at an intersection and cause some real damage.

I don't know why but it strikes me as insanely funny when somebody calls me a "***". In fact, it happened this past saturday. I just started laughing and the guy looked highly insultated

I have a pink T-Mobile helmet...people yell "***" on occasion...if that's the best they can do, I pity them...I might respect somebody who yelled "Hey Jan, why did you get fat last winter, huh?"

They feel threatened by our security and physical prowess... I mean here they are in a 3,000lbs car and we are doing the same thing they are on a 20lbs bike. Plus we are secure enough to wear "gay" colors like pink or rainbows. I did like one of the Clearchannel DJ's descriptions though... they said we look like "rainbow sausages" I nearly choked on my Dr. Pepper when I heard that one!

53-11 alltheway, we all feel threatened by your physical prowness. BTW i heard that you had found the magical 60T chainring and had moved on to a higher plane of existence
You know what would be fun? Try and see how "gay" we can make our bikes and riding outfits. I'm betting that that could get pretty interesting

WTF is up with "No disrespect...?" No disrespect, but you're a guido ballsucker. No disrespect, but your sister can suck a golf ball through a 50' hose. No disrespect, but anyone who actually says "no disrespect" and follows it with an insult is sofa king we todd ed.

I didn't mean any offense to gay people, I have no problem with them. I was just using the word as it was used in the context of the original post.
I mean rainbow colored jerseys with matching shorts, road bikes with little baskets in the handlebars and helmets with flowers laced through the vents. Imagine the comments we would get then, I mean we think we have it bad now

See, this is when you insult him back, and then break his jaw when he gets steamed and gets out of his libido-compensator.

Seriously, should we bring up my "what's wrong with spandex" thread? I've never been called "gay" on the road, but I once was told that I wasn't riding fast enough, while going 18mph dodging through traffic... uphill (a little) on a very bumpy stretch of Broadway, wearing a big backpack no less. For the record, the dork was in an SUV (of course!). The funny thing is, I think he was trying to encourage me in a weird sort of way.

haha yeah i got yelled at too!
i was at a stop light on my bike wanting to turn left and i had to wait because of oncoming traffic when someone pulls up behind me also wanting to turn left - the guy puts his window down and yells "hey why dont you get your bike the f* of the road?!" and i thought nothing of it because i get cat calls and insults all the time when i run during cross country season. but this guy was different - he gets out of his car and starts coming after me!

"Oooh, pump those tight quads faster! Kick higher, higher!"
or
"Please ride further up--where I can clearly see you mounted on that saddle!"
Actual incident:
One Apple Cider Century® (southwest Michigan), a woman did ride up quickly to compliment me and ask where I had bought my Asics tights. They were fairly colorful, and my ride was probably more aerodynamic that day.
