Any deals on Specialized Prevail Helmet out there?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Any deals on Specialized Prevail Helmet out there?

After much looking I think the Prevail is the best fitting, most comfortable helmet I've found and I'd like to get one but retail is for suckers and this thing is kind of expensive. Performance had helmets on sale for 20% off but they don't sell Specialized (actually ordered an Ionos for $160 which was a good price but don't like the fit). I thought maybe someone out there might sell these and have a 20% off deal or similar but so far can't find anything. Does Specialized price fix or something? Anyway, just wondering if anyone knows of a good deal. Thanks.

Specialized doesn't allow online sales other than through their site. This works out really well for their dealers since it keeps customers from coming in to try items on then buying online.

Have you gone into a retailer and asked about a discount? Looked into joining a local club to get a club discount?

I bought an S-Works helmet when the shop was having a general sale and asked if the helmet was part of the sale. The reply was that the helmet was not on sale, but they would give me 10%, so I bought it.

Had a feeling that might be the case when I couldn't find much online. Good for dealers, bad for consumers when there isn't much in the way of choice - except to choose a different company.

That's probably what I'll have to do, but I only found one local dealer so far and I don't like the shop. They overcharge for everything - probably to pay for their megastore style shop. They had the Giro Aeon for $20 more than Giro's price. I did ask about sales and the guy I talked to said pretty much no. I'll just shop around.

I think my LBS has a deal, if you buy a specialized bike they will give you a helmet for free. It may have expired last week, but I'm sure you could sweet talk him.

I dont know for sure, but I would highly doubt you would be getting specialized newest most expensive helmet in their line up though.

I waited around for the LBS to have a 25% off sale for shoes, helmets, gloves, stuff like that. The shops around here seem to do it once or twice a year. Sometimes they only post the sales on their site and on facebook, so get connected and have some patience.

if you like the helmet this is the best crash replacement policy I've seen

Helmet crash replacement Policy
If a helmet is damaged during a crash within 2 years after the purchase date, the
Specialized dealer will replace this helmet for 50% of the original purchase price.
Therefore, the dealer needs an original proof of purchase and the damaged helmet.

Taken from

https://cdn.specialized.com/OA_MEDIA/...nsEwww.com.pdf

it's worth it to me
