Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I picked this up in a swap with a fellow forum member. I was looking for a daily rider which will be basically a resto mod with modern part. I the parts will be early 10 speed Centaur and Chorus. The beauty of this frame is it's large size and short top tube. I'm 6'2" with really long legs and short torso so this thing should really be good for my aging body's need for bars closer to level. These are parts I had on hand for the most part, I don't like this seat post and am torn between full black and silver. That goes for the water bottle cages and head set too. I have these wheels along with a pair of silver rimed wheels in a more traditional style rim. Also debating with myself on bar tape, thinking keeping in black but wondering if a splash of color would be good. I've always loved the Turbo saddles but it is between this one or a Flite. Really looking forward to finishing this thing up with new cables and getting out on the road.
This one caught my eye because the geometry looks very similar to my recent custom frame--long head tube and shorter top tube. If you ever get tired of her...

RE: 2113 Eric F Classic steel that looks to be Eroica worthy You ever do that heroic ride ? It is again scheduled for this coming 9/2021 and hopefully it happens. I hope to ride with the classic black beauty that I will post below, a Guerciotti Super Corsa. I suspect you would be pretty heroic

Guerciotti Super Corsa with Campy SR setup and tubi's that I hope to be riding at this Sept Eroica ... just need to replace pedals with strapped classics and maybe swap crank with current 53 setup to a 50 version with smaller rings

A friend and I were talking about it last year, but things haven't progressed any further than talk. He still has a bike to build, and has been distracted by other stuff. I'm doubtful it will happen this year, but I am hoping to do an Eroica sometime.

NBD for the second ever road bike I've bought new. First was a Jamis Satellite Sport I had from 2013 - 2019. That bike got me into cycling. Since then, I've had various beaters, commuters, and one fixed gear that I loved. This is the first "nicer bike" I've ever had.

Ritchey Road Logic Disc 53cm with Farsports 45mm deep carbon wheels. DT350 hubs. Mishmash of Shimano 105 and Ultegra parts. All except the rotors, which are the 160mm Dura Ace kind. Built during the COVID shortage, hence the mixed parts.

Still dialing in the fit since I haven't ridden drop bars since 2019!

2021 Domane SL6. Replacement for my old Madone 5.0 with warranty credit. A pound heavier but new wheels and lighter tires will fix that. But a better fit. Not sure I see the advantage of through axles.
