Black bikes are the best! Including my Specialized Roubaix Expert with Ultegra Di2. I love every minute on this bike.

And I know we're on the road forum, but just wanted to sneak in a pic of my Cutthroat with Force AXS/Eagle mullet!

Here's a more recent picture of the same black bike that I posted in this thread back in July 2011:

I can't show it yet because it hasn't been put together, but I'm very excited for a steel frankenbike I've gathered to myself.
It's a Shogun Ninja frame from '89 using Tange Prestige pipes, a Cinelli seat post and a Cinelli "frog" stem, ITM handlebars, I've got some campagnolo Zonda wheels coming, fully Shimano groupset of parts ranging from 105 to dura ace, almost all black, I'll use some Continental Black tires... A wahoo Elemnt Roam up front... It's all going to be black but for Orange (my fave) handlebar tape.
Very excited, I'll post photos!

Finally able to post!!

Shogun Ninja frame, Tange Prestige from '89. Various Shimano components with adapted Campagnolo Zonda wheels. I think the Gatorskins are a bit heavy, I look forward to having a reason to replace them with something more sporty.

105.. orange is my favourite colour (what else could be?)

People who saw my old thread about a mystery click can finally confirm my various components down here (the new steel frame is silent as the Red October!)

Just confirming that is Ultegra...

There we go.

During that not-so-fun summer of 2020, I decided to build up an aluminum frame with a 110 rear overlock as a coaster brake cruiser.

The frame was black, but scratched and scuffed, so I took out the ol' Rustoleum and touched it up. And thought, "hey, this bike would look good in black."
Not saying I got carried away, but I ended up painting everything black - even lacing custom wheels with all-black rims, spokes, and hubs. Even painted the nuts and bolts to match.

I even put black retroreflective sheeting on the rear fender.
I was content to use the bike myself, but then I discovered the extraordinary demand for available bikes at the time, and sold it in a matter of hours online for $200 to someone who proclaimed it "exactly what she was looking for." Hope it's still rolling darkly along...

yeah, done that before when I'm in a hurry to finish up a bike. Sharpie will fade out after a while. But really black paint is by far the easiest color to work with. Gloss spray or flat spray or brush on rustoleum. I've touched up many black bikes. Some black parts are anodized, others are painted like the seat post, ders and crank on this bike.
