Want to save $10,000 on your next bike buy

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Want to save $10,000 on your next bike buy

Why limit yourself to $1k-2k?

Another thread suggested that the going rate per pound for a bike is about $500.

Let's assume that you were going to buy a 20 pound bike. You could save $10,000 by not buying that bike and keep riding your current bike.

You could then take that $10,000 and buy some nice bike schwag such as zipp wheels, srm, garmin, etc. You can pat me on the back now for my brilliance, thank you very much.

You could have saved more had you been thinking about buying a Rolls Royce and a Cervelo S5 (mods, note mention of a bike in this post as to maintain the ultimate in BF relevance)

What's the going rate for liposuction? Maybe it's cheap than carbon.

I appreciate the compliment -- compliment, yes? Let me say this: if elected, there will be a chicken in every pot and at least one bike of your choice (e.g., S5 with Di2 for Pcad) in your garage/basement (or wherever you keep it).

Why didn't you post this kind of advice before I got married? I could have saved literally thousands of dollars on wedding, anniversaries, stuff in general.

Hmmmm, since I just saved $100,000, maybe I should spend just 1/10 of that and buy myself a $10,000 bike ..... and still have $90,000 savings.

I don't get the jealousy.. people buy a bike as a percentage of their yearly income, some will spend more, some less. Who cares. Buy a bike and ride the hell out of it. There is law of diminishing returns in everything, but some people do have the money.
