Another Radio DJ against cyclists

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Another Radio DJ against cyclists

After reading a wire story about former Detroit Lion QB Joey Harrington getting hit by a car in Portland while riding in the road, Mike Valenti at 97.1 "The Ticket" in Detroit went on a rant about cyclists having no right to the road.
"I wish I had a snow plow so I could just scoop these psychos out of the road"
"Whoever gave these geeks a right to the road was an idiot"
"Why don't these guys just get a car and be like us normal people?"

One caller said, "why should I have to give up my right to drive 55mph to wait for them to get out of my way?"

So apparently, driving 55 is a birth right that everyone is given. I had no idea.

Rick from Royal Oak made a good point about 'the driver on the expressway who drives 45 in the middle lane is annoying but that's their right to do that.' It had no effect on the rant.

I can't ask you to join the conversation by going to their website and sending a message, but you can take that upon yourself if you are so inclined.

For the record, he says he knows they have the RIGHT, but he thinks it should be changed.

I would like to counter that with, "Why should I have to pay more for health insurance to subsidize fat ass "normal" people. Why don't they put down the Big Mac and get off their asses."

Why all the defections from the A & S?

They don't call that place the Crazy 8 for nothing.

But you can stop it from reproducing if you start early enough.

Valenti is a typical sparty idiot who is not very good at what he does. Sadly in these times, the lowest common denominator often wins. How this guy can still be employed after this incident is beyond me.
