Got my new BOYD Wheels today! (Pictures)

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Got my new BOYD Wheels today! (Pictures)

So I came home to my Boyd wheels left at my front door today! I was so excited I didn't even change out of my suit. Opened the box and pulled them out. installed my tires and took them down to my LBS to swap out the cassette from my previous wheels. First impressions....Super light, Quality build and sexy as heck! Pictures just dont do justice for how good these look in person. Got home and took some pornographic photo's of the bike and am now impatiently waiting for my wife to get home so she can watch the kids and I can go ride!!!!!

Here she is...

Ridley Scandium(Silver/white/blue)
-Full Ultegra 6700
-Boyd Vitesse 30mm
-Thomson Seat post
-Thomson Stem
-Ritchey Carbon bar

Looks nice...I'm waiting for the Souls to get here...still have some time I guess.

So you have a work stand but not a chain whip or lock ring tool?

Yea but seriously...it's like $25 total for the tools you need to do it yourself. Did the LBS charge you for the switch (my guess is no if your pals with them)?

no charge All my cycling money comes from my sock drawer (Christmas money, birthday or whatever i can sell on CL). No money gets taken out of our budget even for an emergency $8 tube. So $25 is $25 and when my sock drawer money is out, it wont let me overdraw.

Nice wheels (and bike).

Yeah, you really should get the tools to change out a cassette. Couple minutes once the wheel is off the bike.

Quick question. I always hear here that people get home and the box was just waiting there outside the door; don't you worry about a $500-$1500 box sitting in your porch unattended??

I sometimes worry about it but i live in a pretty good neighborhood and don't think i really have anything to worry about. If UPS or Fedex doesn't require a signature delivery for the delivery you pretty much have no choice, unless you take time off work or something to make sure your home for the delivery.

to the OP: were you happy with the packaging?

i received my BOYD 58mm carbon tubulars last week and was HORRIFIED when the UPS man set my box down and i heard the fingernail on a chalkboard sound of the skewers loose inside the box pinging off several spokes and finally the rim!!!! the skewers were simply put inside an adhesive sleeve (the ones made for inserting the shipping labels) and stuck to the middle piece of cardboard. a single 6" piece of duct tape could have easily prevented the skewers from popping right out of the weak sleeve and scratching up my rim and spokes (they aren't huge scratches, but still disappointing for brand new wheels)

then, upon further examination inside the box, i find the hubs poking through the SINGLE sheet of cardboard that seperated the 2 wheels and they were rubbing on eachother!!
additionally, the rear hub, although capped w/ a plastic plug, was protruding thru the side of the box :/

after all the praise i read about Boyd wheels i was utterly astonished at the lack of care taken to ship their wheels safely.
obviously we're getting a great price on these wheels, and i'm happy with the wheelset so far, but honestly, how hard would it be to purchase or make something like this:
