What's your resting HR? What's your max?

Resting: 60
Max: 197

Patriot 11-19-04 01:25 AM

Resting-50 (after the caffeine wears off) :D
Max-180-190. Not exactly sure. I need to get a HR mon.

drroebuck 11-19-04 01:29 AM

i find it difficult to test my resting, because i get anxious and then my hr goes up.

Smoothie104 11-19-04 02:21 AM

was 51-205 this year, but its my first year back, and I never really felt super fit... I think this year I can get it down to 45 I hope.

Lectron 11-19-04 02:30 AM

Increased the amount of workout, so went a little down on the max.
Max :197, rest 48 and falling (hopefully).
How much you produce in a zone, and for how long you can stay in say 90% is a much
more interesting question.

Rest 61 BPM

Max 192 BPM (At least what I could measure)

Normal heart rate during biking 150 - 170 BPM

oaxacarider 11-19-04 03:44 AM

rest: high 50s max: low 200s

MAx : 199

GingerPrince 11-19-04 06:30 AM

Resting: 38 ish
Max: 184 - that's the max I've seen on my HR anyway.

What's the most important thin with HR? To have a low resting? Or a high max? Or a wise range?

serious 11-19-04 06:31 AM

I am 42 years old and the max heart rate is supposed to be 178 (220-age). However, I have pushed it over 180 many times. I can keep my heart rate at 90% of max for 30-60 minutes.

Resting: 49-51
Max: 180+

joejack951 11-19-04 06:40 AM

Age: 26 (in case you cared)
Resting: 50
Max: 187 (I think I've got a little more left to give)

On an hour and 15 minute ride, I'll average 89-90% of that.

Jakub 11-19-04 06:40 AM

max 205
current resting: 58 (lowest in summer of about 50)

BikeWNC 11-19-04 07:04 AM

Max 190
Resting 43

Max heart rate is insignificant and no indicator of health or performance. Resting heart rate is directly related to fitness and is very significant.

slvoid 11-19-04 08:31 AM

I'm 22, I know it's supposed to be around 200 but it's not.
Resting is 38-40. Max that I've seen is 191.

From what I've read, max heart rate is an indicator of performance for an individual athlete. One's performance decreases with age as does ones max heart rate. It's certainly not a valid measure for comparing athletes.

Also, the true resting heart rate is supposedly that measured immediatly after awakening. You're supposed to sleep with a heart monitor and look at it when you first waken. I think I read that in one of Carmichael's books (Armstrong's personal trainer). I did that once and got 48, but I may have been too groggy to read it correctly so I don't quote it as my resting rate.

Age 65
Max 177 (reached on three occasions)
Resting 58 (after sitting in a chair for a few minutes)

My guess is the spread is most important.
Mine is 42 175 been having a "missing beat" problem at rest periodically, 1 in 4 missed, so when that is happening it is about 30. Did stress test doc says everything is OK. I says, "but doc, I miss beats sometime". Doc says "Isn't happening now". I say "what should I do"? Doc says "I don't know". I says, seems when I take my vitamins regularly, I don't miss beats. Doc says "than do that".

That resting HR was even higher a couple months back. Its coming down nicely as I've dropped 15 pounds the last two months. Starting to get and keep my wind the longer I'm out riding. Hoping to keep it up through the winter with some good base mileage (dry winter! dry winter!)

heresy 11-19-04 10:06 AM

Max: 200 or so
