Haven't ridden for over two weeks :(
My time is very limitted for riding to begin with. But, now that winter is moving in, I haven't been able to ride for the last two+ weeks now. It seems everytime I get an hour to go for a quick little jaunt, it is raining pretty hard outside. Of course, I live in NW Washington, so rain is a pretty common thing around here. I don't mind riding in the cold though, as I have lots of cold gear, but I have to say, I hate riding when it is pouring outside.
There is one good thing about all this. There is snow in the mountains, and the skis are ready for waxing, WOOHOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone else from my area have this same type of problem?

Patriot - I lived in Seattle and now live in Portland and I feel your pain. In the past, I would come off a great 7 months of riding only to have it scale back once the clocks and the weather changed. This ultimately led to huge bouts of depression and angst.
This year, I resolved that things would be different. I reset my mileage and training goals. I bought the necessary lights and cold/wet weather gear and have come to actually enjoy going out in the rain at night. I can't ride as fast or nearly as aggressive but I've found that I enjoy it nonetheless.
It's a mindset and once I got past the disappointment that cycling in the winter isn't nearly the same or as great as the summer, I found ways that it can be good. Especially after I changed my expectations. Give it a try and good luck.

The time change and constant rain kept me from riding for three weeks. I finally got a trainer and some Spinervals DVD's. My indoor workout has been great this week!!!

I told my wife I wish I had some rollers. She said, "Christmas is coming." So, I figure as long as I am a good boy, Santa will bring a set of rollers for me.

I live in Seattle and I'm having the same problem. My last ride was two Saturdays ago after coming off riding every day for 6 months. I can't seem to motivate to commute in to work on the cold wet mornings and I'm bumming. I know that I won't be able to ride as often but I'm going to push myself to at least get in two or three days a week.
Can anyone recommend some good gloves that will stand up to the rain?

I read an article that basically said November is a good month for a break to split up the summer riding season and the winter riding (for me, mostly indoor training) season. We get hit with shorter days, time change, cold weather and here in New England an often times drizzly November, and it all seems to hit you like a punch in the face. Personally, I am taking it easyier for a few weeks - will probably go for a trail run today, and do some lighter spinning on the bike while watching football tomorrow.

'Tis the season for those of us in cold/snow climates. You suddenly realize that summer is gone, you;ve stretched out autumn riding and it's just about time to bring the bike in and hook it up to a trainer in the basement.
I take this time to rest. Eat well at Thanksgiving....enjoy Christmas and New Year's and then put some time in spinning in the basement just to keep things lubed up until you can get back out there in spring.

Yup, I think a good set of rollers for the winter will be my goal. Besides, don't know about you guys, but I get just as good a rush skiing in the winter. I just don't get to do it as often as I can ride my bike, so I'll try and do a little bit of both.
I wonder if I can get Santa to have the elves make me a set of Kreitler's?

No better time to listen to your favorite tunes than when you are cranking out RPMS on the trainer, makes the cycling blues go away.
