is my $300 carbon Handlebar Upgrade=faster me?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Depends. If you paid cash, a lighter wallet will help in the climbs. If you bought on credit, a heavier debt load will slow you down climbing. Just look for long descents.

When asked about becoming a better cyclist, Eddy Merckx answered with "Don't buy upgrades. Ride up grades."

So much faster you'll need a rider on your insurance.

I love that!

To answer the question...yes, you will be faster as a result. As a result of training harder--not buying something that's lighter or marginally stronger.

if its properly aero, it will act like a wing and provide lift, thus making you and the bike essentially lighter. You will fly.

That one is made of non-baryonic matter, so it's immune to gravity. This will make you faster, but only going up hills.

LOL to some of the answers and replys.

I wouldn't say it will make you a faster rider or a better climber by any measure at all. Is it a nice upgrade and save weight...yes. Is it worth $300....if you have the expendable income to do so, yes. That being said what does the rest of your bike look like? are there other upgrades that would be far better spent such as a wheelset, saddle, stem, seatpost, pedals, shoes, shorts? I'd rather drop $200 on a nice set of bib shorts with a high quality chamois than $300 on carbon bars. But then again, I already have carbon bars.
