Looking for something more upright
 

I ride a 2000 Trek 5500, but recently I've been looking for something more upright. The Trek FX series, Specialized Sirrus and TriCross have been recommended to me. The Tricross is the most interesting to me, but it's hard for me to tell if the riding position is really much more upright than the 5500. I had hoped someone here might have some insight into the two with respect to geometry. I don't want to buy a bike that is very close to what I already have, but I would like a second bike that isn't as aggressive as the 5500, but that can be ridden 40-50 miles on the road without issue.

raise bar, shorter stem?

I've had the bars raised on the 5500....I think they installed a taller stem? I'm a Luddite when it comes to bike tech so forgive my inability to describe the parts accurately. I've just sold my MTB and am looking for a second bike as opposed to modifying my current one. Maybe something that is a little more at home on roads that aren't smooth asphalt? Kinda of a treat for me for being a good boy.... :)

Look for a bike like this one I'm selling, it has a very tall head tube. Trek has the H3 fit on some models, that would work. And the Specialized Roubaix.
