When was the Bell Ghisallo helmet discontinued?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

When was the Bell Ghisallo helmet discontinued?

Been wearing a Ghisallo for about five years, I know, way too long, and now realize that I should replace it per the Bell site and BF comments. When I looked at the Bell site it wasn't there so it is obviously discontinued. Does anyone know when this occurred? Some shops are still selling them but if they have been sitting in inventory for a long time, that means that the two to three year recommended replacement time could be over or near over before I buy it.

On the site I saw a like priced Array helmet. Is it the Ghisallo replacement? Has anyone used the Array? If so, comments would be welcome.

I really liked the Ghisallo because it fit my head well and for me was more comfortable than the Giros and others I tried on.

I think it was three years ago.

Try the Sweep. The Volt and the Sweep are the top two helmets with the Array close behind.

The Ghisallo was, at one point Bell's top helmet. Then the Sweep came out, then the Volt at the top. So, the Sweep wouuld be more like the Ghisallo in that it was at the top of the heap at one point.

So what happened? Did your helmet go bad like milk that has been sitting in your fridge for two months? Or did you drop it from over two feet?

Helmets don't go bad if you don't crash. I am wearing a bell helmet that is a 2002 model today.

The Ghisallo is still available from performancebike.com and nashbar.com. Both sites show it as being available in all sizes (but limited choices of colors). If you have a local branch of either retailer, they might have it in stock there; if not, at Performance stores you can use their "red phone" to place an order with their mail-order division and get free shipping to the store. I don't know if Nashbar has a similar service but they're owned by Performance, so they very well might.
