Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I've only traveled overnight with a bike once, but as the others have mentioned, it came in the hotel room with me. I have a trunk rack, so I had to remove the bike to get the luggage out anyway.

I discovered an added bonus to doing this: I parked my bike next to the bed. It was the last thing I saw before I fell asleep, and the first thing I saw when I woke. I think my wife was a little jealous.

People can be scum bags, and this is why I generally don't trust strangers. If your bike can't go inside with you, it has to at least be out of sight. The only time I've left my nice bike out overnight was camping, and even then it was hiding under a deflated raft.

Say WHAT now???

Jokes apart, OP - glad to know it worked out relatively ok for you. Sucks to have to pay $200 extra but like you said, it's better than paying $2000 more.

And as it gets towards the end of the season, start looking for sales and clearances, and you might be able to get the same - or similar - bike at enough of a discount to offset some of the deductible.

Besides, bikes have feelings too ya know!!
Yes bikes do have feelings lol

Glad to hear insurance will cover it. Hopefully you can find another 2011 Spec Elite. You might want to start calling around now because there aren't many 2011's around anymore.
I went down to my LBS cuz i had to get a receipt for the bike cuz i lost mine and the insurance company is going to need one and he said that the 2012 bikes are available now and that he could get me one but the 2011 is a long shot unless my insurance company cuts me a check tomorrow ill probably be going with the 2012 which isnt a bad thing its pretty nice looking with a few new upgrades

Yes i will deffinitly be adding them to the list it was just a 20$ computer 6$ cage 2 13$ bike locks and $50 pedals but they will know all about it
