You Shall All Covet The New Addiction

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

met pcad, he was an excellent marshall. the only car that got through was a garbage truck and it wasn't from his corner.

4 race finished 8th crash in first corner of last lap minorly boxed at the finish.

4/5 race DNF gave up with 2.5 to go...back to back races weren't in the cards for end of the season fitness.

Interestingly enough, the Zipp Zed Tech wheels used to be available in custom colors. I just went to the site trying to find them, and the Zedtech portion is gone. My guess is the Canadian Government sued them, for the use of "Zed".

Speaking of which, I really want a set of the black stickers like on the Zedtechs, but without all the extra bs, just the simple black Zipp logos.

Yeah, but the look really cool. Let's face it, that is all that really matters.

Being a race marshall means Great Power. With Great Power comes Great Responsibility.

Some of these idiots were steaming mad about being asked to drive 'the long way' around a one mile access road (I estimate this may have added 500 meters to some of their car commutes today). One woman blew me off and drove the opposite way on the race course. Happily she didn't flatten anyone.

I know I haven't see it all...but I hadn't seen this before. I was nearing the end of my ride today and on a long, straight uphill section I saw two folks on bikes. As I got closer, I could see they were flat-bar, with fenders and the riders were wearing cargo shorts, t-shirts, tennis shoes and ball caps. They were both a bit overweight and the bikes were pretty beat up. But as I neared the woman, she all of a sudden bent forward into a more aero position (with a bit of wobbling)...and sure enough...she had clip-on aero bars on the bike! I passed the guy and he also had aero bars. I should have asked if they were training for a triathlon or something but just kept to myself. They made quite a sight.

I saw a special edition S5 Team with Red at Target Training would be a just right for Pcad.

I fully expected Wal-Mart to start carrying Cervelo soon, kind of suprised that Target beat them to it.

I have also seen the clip ons affixed to a flatbar... it cause me to raise my eyebrow at the use of such a setup.

I thought being a marshall for that race was going to be a drag, turned out to be a very good time. I enjoyed it. Felt like I was giving something back to the sport, got to hang out with my buds, met heckler, etc.

i was too tired... also weird that I didn't know anyone from up there except for the guy that crashed and was cursing at everyone and making it a bit weird. He crashed going outside...glad I stuck inside on that turn.
