Happy Anniversary
Three years ago tomorrow, Rowan and I were camping just outside Jasper. We got up early in the morning and rode a century (100 miles), finished around 4:30 pm, and relaxed for about half an hour before my parents and cousin (Mayor of Banff and Marriage Celebrant) and his wife arrived. About half an hour later we had changed into somewhat dressier clothing and were standing on a dock in Lake Annette saying our vows.
Tomorrow, we celebrate our third anniversary! :) This year, we are doing a mini cycling tour of Vancouver Island and enjoying it very much so far. Today (Day 2 of the tour) was a great day! We took a ferry from Brentwood Bay across to Mill Bay, stopped for lunch and a little look around, then cycled up to Cowichan Bay. That's a really nice route with glimpses of the ocean, low mountains, rolling hills and fields. The small road, with very little traffic, was surrounded by trees of all different colours - lots of green, a few deep red leaves, and a hint of gold as the leaves begin to change for autumn. Very pretty. In Cowichan Bay we stopped to take a look at a small wooden boat museum where Rowan was very tempted by a sailboat. We stopped to sit on a bench by the bay for a while, and then continued on into Duncan. After a short break, we checked out the totem poles and took lots of photos. Total km for today ... 44.98. (Last Sunday we rode our August century ... so that was kind of our anniversary century.) BTW - for those who might not know ... Rowan and I "met" on Bikeforums in early 2003. And then met in person in France on the 2003 PBP. :) |
Cheers! You guys are a shining beacon of hope for us freds/posers/hipsters who are lost without the 41.

Congrats, that's very cool. Got any totem pics to share?
That's exactly how my wife and I got together also...(if BikeForums is the same as my cousin's basement). Editted to add: "Suck on that E-Harmony" |

Happy anniversary.
But if two BFers meet up and get married, don't you have to share twice as many photos of your rides together with the rest of the group? I'd like to see pics from Jasper and Banff, and I'll take any excuse I can get. |

I recall reading about your wedding in 2008, as a brand new member to Bikeforums and I have enjoyed your posts ever since; yours are among those I will always read when I encounter the name. That thread I read posted on 8/26/08 was entitled "Involving bicycles in your wedding," and I replied to mention that our honeymoon was a cross-county bike trip from Los Angeles to Washington, DC, and then a train ride to Boston to begin that new chapter of our lives. http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...n-your-wedding |
That is so cool! Congrats!!!!!!

Happy Anniversary!!!!

Thanks everyone. :) It's been a very interesting and challenging three years, but good in terms of our relationship.
We are still on our tour on Vancouver Island, and yes I am taking pictures like crazy on this tour, and on all the other parts of our holiday here in Canada. I will post them when we get back to Australia. There will be lots!! :D |
Congratulations. I hope to see similar posts in future decades. My spouse and I also met through cycling. Well, actually we had some classes together at University, so we knew each other by sight, but it was the riding that brought us together. It seems so recent that we started touring together, but it has been twenty-seven years.

OK, we're back in Australia and I'm busy processing holiday photos ... :)
