Assos Tights and Knickers from Ribble - no chamois cream or detergent?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Assos Tights and Knickers from Ribble - no chamois cream or detergent?

I just got a pair each of assos bib Knickers and tights from Ribble. (I figure if I buy enough cold weather clothing I might keep riding through the winter.)

I am used to assos coming with cleanser and chamois cream samples, these did not.

Is that a new thing, or do the tights and knickers not come with these?

I just purchased two pair of F1.Mille S5 bib shorts from World Cycling Productions and they came with the detergent, chamois cream and a mesh wash bag. Did yours have a WRN number on the tag with the bar code? It should be at the bottom. See the link below:

Yes. Were you thinking counterfeit? They came from ribble, a pretty big authorized assos retailer, so that would surprise me.

I got a pair of Assos Uno bibs from Ribble a few months back and they came only with the net bag and no cream or detergent. I don't know if this is the new normal or if it is a peculiarity of Ribble.

Maybe not the place to say it, but I have never used chamois cream anyway so I don't really care.

I use both the cream and the detergent. I am a big fan of each and the small sizes they come with are particularly good for travel. I e-mailed both ribble and Assos to see what they say.

I don't think the F1Unos come with the cream & detergent.

Not necessary anyway, IMO.

The "lower end" Assos products w/ a chamois don't come with the chamois creme or detergent samples. The Uno is their lower end bib.

I don't view what I bought as "lower end" but I may be wrong. LL.716 S5 bib tights and TK.607 bib knickers. I'm guessing Ribble wouldn't mess with the stuff. Maybe the extras only come with the F1.13.

Screw the expensive detergent. Woolite works okay for me.

My bad should have read closer. I just have seen no extras with the lower end models -- not sure why they wouldn't include it with the tights or knickers. Would be interesting to know how Assos will respond.

the extras do not come with every Assos purchase. they reserve that for items higher up their product line. later.

Some international sellers don't include those things to save on shipping. Sucks, but there you go.

I thought these items were pretty high up the product line. But whatever...

Just heard back from Assos, in case anyone was interested...

Dear Sir,

Chamois cream and cleanser came with the bibs in the 2009 only to promote the new insert S5.

Now all the bibs came only with the washbag.

Best regards
