If you could buy any top-end bike today...

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If you could buy any top-end bike today...

Possibly the ugliest, most botched attempt at a "super bike" ever:

http://www.competitivecyclist.com/fr...bike-9976.html

Just wanted to post that before someone shows their poor taste by saying they would want that bike.

I'd also wouldn't mind a Boardman bike. I love the yellow accents in the inner fork and rear triangle. With SRAM Red Yellow edition. Some different wheels though.

Sweet! did you do a build or did you swap out a few things. I'd keep the white cockpit and red hoods.

Damn..the paint jobs on those Boardmans are beautiful! So simple, yet bold and eye catching.. Why can't all the big manufacturers out there get a clue?

I seriously don't know what I'd do if I had someone else's money to spend but I only get *one* bike.

I'm positive that I would be nowhere near the equal of such a fine machine, so I'll pick the Cervelo S5 because I read Gerard Vroomen's blog and I like him.

Seriously, I couldn't go wrong with any of the bikes suggested so far. The Look 695 would be right up there for me too.

With some plain black wheels that would be a beautiful bike.

It's not nearly as gaudy as some Treks.

I'm not a fan of Treks, but I still beg to differ. Just because it's "stealth black" doesn't mean it's not gaudy looking. Just my 2 cents though. To each their own. If everyone had the same taste in everything we wouldn't have the variety we do these days!

Well, if money is no object I'll take a Roark Mach 2 with Dura Ace/Di2:

Simply because I could never afford a bike with DA/Di2 let alone a custom titanium aero bike!

Oh.....many options I'd be thrilled with, but would probably end up going with:

Probably Di2, possibly Red.

I'm likley going to buy a new bike by the first of next year.

The leading candidates are a Cervelo S5, and a Canondale EVO Supersix.

I like the weight, and purported ride qualities of the C'dale. Trying to decide how big the aero difference is, and how much it matters. The inner weight weenie is seduced by the very light C'dale, but logic tells me the more aerodynamic bike makes more sense.

If I go with the C'dale the group will definitely be SRAM red. (given that the idea would be to make it a very light bike.

If I go with the Cervelo, its between Red and Di2

Why is the headtube on the Cervelo S5 so tall? Even with your stem slammed, it still looks tall.

Light, stiff, and supremely aero all get my attention... Especially that the frame is specifically designed to accommodate the use of water bottles and still maintain aero function.
