Preference on Sunglasses?
Hi again,
I just got a helmet to wear after a few light weeks of riding without one.
Next question is, what kind of sunglasses will fit best over/under the straps? I dont think my Wayfarers will cut it any longer... looked at some Oakleys today but just wanted to gather some opinions. Thanks!!!

I like the clear lenses. They make me feel like less of a ****** than the dark ones I have. I like people being able to see my eyes when I talk to them. They also fit parallel to my face, not angled like the 1st pair I bought.

If you can swallow the price, I vote Oakleys - Jawbones only look remotely sensible on the bike, but they are super comfortable with superb optics.

if you can find them for a decent price(and thats tough nowadays), try finding some Oakley factory Pilots, like Lemond used to wear. Best EG's Ive ever owned, and wore. BIG TIME OOP, but you can still find them from time to time.

I have a pair of flak jacket too and they're quite nice granted I got them half off from a friend who works at sunglasses hut. The only problem I would say is when I ride on the drop bars the top rim of the glasses blocks part of my view when looking forward. From what I've read oakley radars are more suitable

Whatever works, most good quality glasses will work just as well as another. I get whatever I can find on closeouts like my Bolle 721's I use for biking that I got for $22 instead of the $95 retail.
I got them at Campmor, they have sunglasses on closeout right now, see: https://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/...0&colorFilter=

If we're talking about frames - I truly believe that's a personal choice.
But if we're talking about lenses - what I swear by is some Polarized lenses (I got an Essilor brand mounted onto some sporty Lacoste frame)
There's nothing like having a pair of Polarized lenses mounted onto your frame for driving, running, biking, etc.
I have a pair of Oakley Scalpel right now and I'll have polarized lenses on them soon.

I have a set of Oakley... something's. They don't fold up, and the arms are a mildly bendy rubber so they squeeze without applying too much pressure. I wear those when I leave from home, and they work great. When I ride from work, I wear my everyday Native's. Darkest I could find, and POLARIZED. Most important thing for me. Being blue eyed, I would actually sacrifice comfort and gladly pay more for dark and glare reducing, because without it, I can't see a thing, and I really don't like squinting WITH glasses on.

Go to your local drug store and go to the sunglass section. They usually have a bunch of "sport" sunglasses there... and a bunch with the Iron Man symbol somewhere on the shades. Try on all of them, see what fits you best. $30, high-quality UV protection, polarized lenses.
I frequently lose my shades or drop them, and I don't want to worry about that when I'm out riding.
$30 polarized lenses gives you more of an edge then $120 Oakleys without polarized lenses. I wear my oakleys now only when I'm not biking... because $120 isn't a chump of change to me. (Student budget, even hard to affrod the $30 shades :S)

The UV protection is not the same in a pair of oakley that are sitting next to your local drug store set of crap.
oakley radars for the win! wether you get oakleys or smiths or "X"...just get a nice set and take care of them. When you get back from your ride, put them in a case so they dont get scratched and then they will be ready to go when you are ready to ride again.

Maui Jims have superb lenses, but I couldn't find a model I liked so I'm saving up for another pair of Oakley's. I get prescription lenses and Oakley's optics labs are the best, says my optometrist.

I have very sensitive eyes so I wear polarized Oakleys with a bronze lense. My glasses fell of at the boat dock, so I ran to the Hess gas station and bought a par of puggs that were great. So if you dont want to pay much for glasses 12 bucks you cant to wrong
