OT: Cycling Kit Design
Not sure if this is a prudent place to post this, but thought I will give it a shot. I am the organizer for the Maverick Cycling Team on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington. This is our inaugural year as a team and I am having some difficulty in designing our cycling kits. Not sure if anyone out there has any experience in this type of area, but any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Who are you ordering through? I know Capo includes a couple hours (2 to be exact, if memory serves) of design assistance with every order, then they charge a little extra after that. I would think other manufacturers would do the same...

I did a run for my office. we used Mt. Borah.
I got a jersey template and did my best to design them. I didn't know how to use Adobe Illustrator, so I had to send them my art and have them recreate it in the proper format. I was a little disappointed to learn that art could not cross panels on the jersey, so i had to "fake" it, but in the end they came out well. A little expensive, though - we got around 20 and it was $132 per jersey. I wouldn't do it again unless i could find it for less money.
they sent us a fit kit so everyone could try and get the right size (this ended up being totally pointless since most of the people were out of shape and just wanted "the biggest size or just a T-shirt". whatever).
after you send them the art, they send you proofs, including a small copy on actual jersey material. when you do the "final final" approval, you sign something and then they do the run.
what difficulty are you having?

Since you're doing a jersey's for your university, I'd suggest compiling a group of images for all the various universities. That should give you some great ideas as a starting point. I'd think you (or a couple guys/gals on the team) could quickly bin them by likes/dislikes. Don't ask for help from to many otherwise you'll be stuck with to many opinions and get nowhere fast.

Start flirting with girls near the graphic design and advertising classes.
Based on what I see on Versus, most pro teams don't hire qualified designers either.
