Anyone try Keywin pedals?

Was just wondering about them. Interesting design, but it appears they have a small plastic tab that holds the cleat in place. It almost looks like it would snap off, if you really pulled up hard.

I haven't heard of any breaking, and a lot of riders in my club use them.

Here is a review and some reader comments on www.cyclingnews.com:

I ride Looks, but would consider Keywins should I be upgrading pedals in the future.

Stack height looks quite big (?) I would guess around 20mm.

I have heard the tsack height is a bit more than most others. However, I really like the size of the platform. Apparently, it is one of the largest out there for clipless road pedals.
Also, the weight is very attractive for the price.

I may just give them a shot for the heck of it, unless there is a known problem with them.

Lectron, everytime you make a post, I always have to click on your pic of the Airborne. Kind of hard not to. If I was to build a Ti bike, it would probably be very similar to your setup.

That Ti bike is absolutely gorgeous... Interesting crankset.. what kind is it?

FWIW, I just broke one of my Keywins this morning :(

Not where you'd think either--it was the front lip of the pedal that cracked. I could no longer clip in, so I had to end my ride since my foot was flying off every other stroke.

They are nice pedals in all other respects--maybe I got a lemon. They were only 4 months old when it broke, and didn't have that many miles on them.

Not sure I will trust them enough to go for a replacement, so will see if I can get come of my money back (or I might just be SOL).

Yup, SOL. :(

Not only did the distributor not offer a refund--a decision I can respect given that I've owned the pedals for 4 months--but then he actually implied that I was *lying* to him when I told him that the Keywins broke under normal use. He said Keywins only break in a crash! Sheesh!!

To his credit, he offered me a replacement, but now I don’t trust these pedals any further than I can chuck 'em!

SPDs for me ;)

I used Keywins when the first came out. Broke three pairs in under six months. The plastic tab all three times. Finally gave up on them.
